Nalaka Siriwardena
Program Officer – Canada / Sri Lanka Municipal Cooperation Program
Nalaka started his career as a Project Assistant in a program focusing on natural resource management, and advanced further with GTZ’s Fisheries Community Development and Resource Management Program as the Program Manager. As a Program Development Officer for USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives program, based in the tsunami affected Southern city of Matara he developed projects to address recovery, rehabilitation and peace-building efforts. Having exposure to various projects related to development and conflict and completing the Peace-building and conflict transformation program with a Facility for Local Initiative Conflict Transformation, Nalaka is not a novice on conflict sensitive and cohesive development approaches. He is also a visiting lecturer in peace and conflict in one of the leading Universities in the Southern part of Sri Lanka.
