Mayor of Granollers (Spain)
Josep Mayoral I Antigas ’ professional career has been linked to the Escola Municipal del Treball school in Granollers, where he has been professor and director. Since his election as mayor of Granollers on 12 February 2004, Josep Mayoral made the ‘recovery of memory’ and ‘peacebuilding’ political priorities. The commemoration of the 1938 bombarding of Granollers and the creation of the Culture of Peace Centre in 2008 emphasize his compromise with local and global analysis and the dissemination of a culture of peace. Since 1995 he has also been member of the Barcelona Provincial Council. Furthermore, he is the chairman of the Group of towns with urban transport (AMTU), created in 2002 by mayors and governors representing 16 town councils of the 2nd metropolitan ring of Barcelona. He is member of the plenary body of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
