Jelte van Wieren

Coordinator on Security and Development in the Peace Building and Stabilisation Unit at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (The Netherlands)
The newly established Peace Building and Stabilisation Unit Jelte van Wieren currently works in, brings together the three dimensions of the Dutch government's policy on fragile states: political transition, security and socioeconomic development. Jelte is a career diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 1991 he served in various positions in The Hague and abroad e.g. in South Africa and Kenya. Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on the linkages between security and the environment. Jelte holds Master degrees in English and International Relations from the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).
