Mayor of Kigali and President of RALGA (Rwanda)
After having obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine at Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda (1992) and her Master of Veterinary Science in Animal production and Economics at the James Cook University, Australia, (1996) Aisa Kirabo Kacyira’s switched to the development sector and became a politician. Since 1993 she has held various positions for a range of development organisations. In 2005 she was elected Member of Parliament and in that quality she is a Member of the Forum for Rwandan Women Parliamentarians and a Member of AMANI (a forum for Parliamentarians in the Great Lakes region aimed at peaceful conflict resolution). In March 2006 she was elected Mayor of Kigali and immediately after also President of Rwandese Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA).
