Abdul Kadum Khudair Ajeel
President of the Iraqi Local Government Association
Mr. Abdul Kadum Khudair Ajeel, was born in 1953, is married and has three children. He has a master’s degree in political science. He was sentenced for life by the former Iraqi regime because of his political activities and he was put in jail for 11 years (1981-1992).
Mr. Abdul Kadum Khudair Ajeel is the President of the Local Government Association of Iraq (LGA) and also a councillor of the Baghdad Provincial Council. The Iraqi LGA was established in August 2006 to include representatives of the 18 Provincial councils (PCs) of Iraq. This institution coordinates between the PCs on one hand and the Iraqi federal government on the other hand in issues of joint interests in addition to exchanging experience and knowledge among PCs themselves. The LGA members are working together regardless of their political and religious diversity.
Mr. Abdul Kadum Khudair Ajeel is also the deputy editor-in-chief of Baghdadona newspaper, a consultant to the Mayoralty of Baghdad, a member of supportive council of political prisoners union, a member of the association of cultural solidarity, an activist in citizen organizations and a publisher in local daily newspapers.
