Aaron Tovish
International Campaign Manager for the 2020 Vision Campaign of Mayors for Peace and Executive Adviser to the President of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation
Aaron Tovish has served as International Campaign Manager for the 2020 Vision Campaign of Mayors for Peace since 2004 and is Executive Adviser to the President of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, the Mayor of Hiroshima, who is also President of Mayors for Peace. As per February 2008, Mayors for Peace has over 2100 member cities: a four-fold increase during the period of the 2020 Vision Campaign. With over two decades of experience, Aaron Tovish is one of the world’s foremost disarmament activists. He has worked for numerous NGOs among them Parliamentarians for Global Action, Earth Action, the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, and the Middle Powers Initiative. Aaron Tovish made significant contributions to a number of successful disarmament campaigns, including the Six Nation Initiative for Peace and Disarmament, the indefinite extension of the Non-Proliferation Treaty in 1995 and the adoption of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty in 1996.
